Chapter 1 : 수요일 아침, 두통 / Wednesday Morning, A Headache
It is Wednesday morning.
수요일 아침입니다.
I wake up slowly.
저는 천천히 일어납니다.
Something feels wrong.
무언가 이상합니다.
My head hurts.
머리가 아픕니다.
I sit at the kitchen table.
저는 부엌 테이블에 앉습니다.
Lucas looks at me carefully.
루카스가 저를 주의 깊게 바라봅니다.
He asks: "Are you OK? You look pale."
그가 묻습니다. "괜찮아? 창백해 보여."
I say: "I've got a headache."
저는 말합니다. "두통이 있어."
He asks: "Do you have any medicine?"
그가 묻습니다. "약 있어?"
I say: "No, I don't have any."
저는 말합니다. "아니, 없어."
He opens a drawer.
그가 서랍을 엽니다.
He says: "Here. I've got some painkillers."
그가 말합니다. "여기. 진통제 있어."
"My mother always has medicine in her bag."
"우리 어머니는 항상 가방에 약을 갖고 다니셔."
"She says you never know when you need it."
"필요할 때가 언제일지 모른다고 하시거든."
"I have the same habit now."
"나도 이제 같은 습관이 생겼어."
I take the medicine.
저는 약을 먹습니다.
I say: "Thank you. You've got a good mother."
저는 말합니다. "고마워. 좋은 어머니를 두셨네."
He smiles: "I know. I have the best."
그가 웃습니다. "알아. 최고의 어머니야."
👩🏫 Ms. Williams says:
"Today we learn two ways to say the same thing: have and have got."

Chapter 2 : 서로의 소유물 이야기 / Talking About What We Have
In class Ms. Williams starts an activity.
수업에서 윌리엄스 선생님이 활동을 시작하십니다.
She says: "Tell us something you have."
선생님이 말씀하십니다. "여러분이 갖고 있는 것을 말해보세요."
"Use have or have got. Both are fine."
"have 또는 have got을 쓰세요. 둘 다 괜찮습니다."
Carlos goes first.
카를로스가 먼저 시작합니다.
He says: "I've got a big family."

"I have three brothers and two sisters."

The room is quiet for a moment.

Then it is my turn.

Chapter 3 : 카페에서의 질문 / Questions at the Café
After class four of us go to the café.
수업 후 우리 넷이 카페에 갑니다.
Carlos, Yuki, Sofia and I.
카를로스, 유키, 소피아, 그리고 저.
Carlos suggests another game.

He says: "Ask someone if they have something."

"Use do you have or have you got. Both are OK."

He asks Yuki: "Do you have a camera?"

Yuki says: "No, I don't."

I say: "Yes, it does. But it doesn't have a dryer."

"We have to hang our clothes."
"빨래를 걸어서 말려야 해요."
She says: "Same. Has your building got a gym?"
그녀가 말합니다. "저도요. 건물에 헬스장 있어요?"
I say: "No, it hasn't."

"But it has got a nice rooftop."
"하지만 멋진 옥상은 있어요."
Carlos says: "Really? Have you got a key for it?"

I say: "Yes, I have. We should go up sometime."

"For questions, we use do you have? or have you got?"
질문할 때는 do you have? 또는 have you got?을 씁니다.
질문: do/does + 주어 + have? = have/has + 주어 + got?
"Do you have a camera?" "No, I don't."

"Does Jennifer have a car?" "Yes, she does."

Chapter 4 : 옥상에서 / On the Rooftop
We are on the rooftop of my building.

The sun is setting over Manhattan.

The city has got so many lights.

Carlos spreads his arms wide.

He says: "I have the best life."

Yuki laughs: "You have a headache this morning."

"What more do I need?"

Sofia looks at the skyline.

She says: "New York has got everything."
그녀가 말합니다. "뉴욕에는 모든 것이 있어."
"But it doesn't have silence."
"하지만 고요함은 없지."
Yuki nods: "In Japan we have a word for that."
유키가 고개를 끄덕입니다. "일본에는 그것을 표현하는 단어가 있어."
"The beauty of empty space."

I think about Korea.
저는 한국에 대해 생각합니다.
My grandmother's garden has got that silence.
저희 할머니 정원에는 그런 고요함이 있습니다.
But right now I've got something different.
하지만 지금 저에게는 다른 무언가가 있습니다.
Something New York has and only New York can give.

I don't have words for it yet.

Back in my room I open my journal.
