Ms. Williams shows two pictures.

A woman holds money: "I have some money."
한 여성이 돈을 들고 있습니다. "저는 돈이 좀 있어요."

 

A man shows empty pockets: "I don't have any money."

Ms. Williams writes: "Use some in affirmative sentences."

형태예문

Chapter 2 : 질문에서는 any, 권할 때는 some / Any in Questions, Some When Offering

Ms. Williams writes: "any and some in questions."

She says: "In most questions (but not all) we use any (not some)."

Lucas says: "So even though these are questions, we use some because we're offering or asking politely, not just asking if something exists?"
루카스가 말합니다. "그러면 이것들도 질문이지만, 뭔가 있는지 그냥 묻는 게 아니라 권하거나 공손하게 요청하는 거라서 some을 쓰는 거네요?"

 

Ms. Williams nods: "Exactly right, Lucas."

In most questions (but not all) we use any (not some):

We normally use some (not any) when we offer things (Would you like ...?):
무언가를 권할 때는 보통 some을 씁니다:

A: "Would you like some coffee?" B: "Yes, please."

or when we ask for things (Can I have ...?, etc.):
또는 무언가를 요청할 때:

I look at the two columns.

Some and something feel warm, open, like there's really something there. Any and anything feel careful, checking, or closing a door.
some과 something은 따뜻하고 열려있는 느낌이에요, 정말 뭔가 있는 것처럼요. any와 anything은 조심스럽고, 확인하거나, 문을 닫는 느낌이에요.

 

I close my journal, grateful that somebody, my teacher, has always had time to help me.

A. some (긍정문) / any (부정문)

Use some in affirmative sentences:
I'm going to buy some clothes. / There's some milk in the fridge. / We made some mistakes.

Use any in negative sentences:
