no + noun (no cars / no garage, etc.) = not any ... or not a ...:
There are no cars in the parking lot. (= there aren't any cars)
주차장에 차가 없어요.

We have no coffee. (= we don't have any coffee)

It's a nice house, but there's no garage. (= there isn't a garage)
차고가 없어요.

 

We use no ... especially after have/has and there is/are.
no ...는 특히 have/has와 there is/are 뒤에 씁니다.

 

negative verb + any = affirmative verb + no:
They don't have any children. or They have no children. (not They don't have no children)
그들은 아이가 없어요.

There isn't any sugar in your coffee. or There's no sugar in your coffee.

I look at the three columns.
저는 세 칸을 바라봅니다.

 

Not any needs a negative verb. No sits with a positive verb but still means nothing. None and no one stand completely alone, answering questions directly.
not any는 부정 동사가 필요해요. no는 긍정 동사와 함께 있지만 여전히 없음을 뜻해요. none과 no one은 완전히 혼자 서서 질문에 직접 대답해요.

 

I close my journal, appreciating how English has so many small, precise ways to describe emptiness, no cars, no money, no one, none at all.
